About the photographer

Michael Collier is a landscape photographer from Calgary, in the foothills of Southern Alberta. He has spent most of his life exploring this region and endeavors to capture the natural beauty of the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains, as well as the intrigue of the vast Prairie to the east, through his photography. His aim as a photographic artist is to draw the viewer into the scene through unique angles and perspective. He strives to work in harmony with natural elements such as light and weather to achieve ambiance. He incorporates various filters to create more striking images as well as intensifying the atmosphere.

My Personal Statement

I appreciate your interest in my photographic work. I would like to share with you the thrill I find in hunting down the perfect sunrise shot over a towering mountain or a quickly moving thunderstorm across the prairie. It is exhilarating, not only the attempt to capture these fleeting moments, but also satisfying to have composed them in a constructive way that will make the image captivating and memorable. Experiencing the wilderness that surrounds me is a thrill, sharing the experience with others through my photography is my ultimate goal.
